People are spending more and more money on expensive presents and I can't help but thinking that it has turned into a meaningless shopping orgy.
I can remember a time when singing Christmas carols, making decorations around the kitchen table and bringing food for the less fortunate all brought happiness to this season.
Instead of looking foreward to Christmas I now dread it every year.

Yep the magic is gone and the real significance is going out the window. I mean the true meaning of Christmas, the nativity story.

Christmas is the main money-oriented holiday, business organisation's attempting to sell decrease priced toys for top fees...and much less approximately coaching (the authentic meaning of christmas has no longer something to do with costly presents...however that's approximately sharing)...

Sure has. people no loger belive in santa claus is one, because people are so stupid that they will only belive what they can see in front of their face. people never actually enjoy christmas because so many people think that they [have to] should buy presents [for people or reletives]. and everyone doens't look forword to it. all kids like [about christms] is getting presents and that's stupid. they never like spending time with people [or their families] The only other thing kids like [besides presents] about christmas is that they get off of school. Kids are so bored [with education] now that they don't even consider it as a gift to be able to be educated. also there are some things wrong with the world. instead of focusing on real problems like global warming, people would rather focus on problems like gay marrige. any way about christmas, it has lost its luster. people never enjoy the presents [that are given to them] and always want to exchange them. kids have more of an attitude [or dissapointment] when they don't get EXACTLY the present that they want. they throw a hissy fit. kids are not concerned about maners at all. kids slack and are hardley put to work. Many parents are telling [their kids] that santa is not real only because they can't see him with their own two eyes. christmas use to be all about imagining and spending time with their families. instead of playing with their toys, kids would rather go up to their bedroom and stare at a box that's on a table(their tv). let's face it, christmas has lost its luster.

It is NOT that way with me and my family. All the old things are still in place. Yes, the presents cost more, and there is more to buy, but in my family with two in uni, one in trade training, there isn't much money.
But, there was enough, and we have each other, and the better part, though our parents are dead, we still have elderly friends we have known since young, and they will be a part of our Christmas.
So the magic lives, and to me, it lives in bigger and better proportions than ever before. It was hard after mum died, but my brother and his wife held things together for Christmas and other things.
I am sorry there is no sense of magic in your life. I pray that some how it return. Maybe we have magic because it is a time to remember a little baby in a manger, the hope he gave to the world, and to appreciate all that is good, right, and still very human in the world.
To you and everyone, I remain, but for another few hours saying...
A Madly Merry, Wickedly Happy Christmas to all!
Charles "That Cheeky Lad"
Abbey and Angel
With special thoughts to...
The elderly and infirm,
The lonely and magic deprived,
and above all...
The little children in whose faces remain
The deepest sense of hope and magic
&
Pure anticipation
Our true hope, our promise that life, traditions, and good will shall remain foreever in the human race!

It has now, because you cannot feel any kind of Christmas atmosphere to when I was young. Those days are gone because we all know that time going by fast. we all know nothing will change and we just be listening to the news each day. We all waiting for something else to happen since sick people will come out since it been to quite for to long. Happy New Year, even if it just for that one day. Enjoy it.

Nah man. It's all relative, I'm not a rich man and neither are the people I know, but it's the one time of year I can walk around and people will say "merry Christmas" out of the good of their hearts even though they've got bills and problems and all the other things the rest of the year throws at them!

you don't have to copy and buy in to the commercialisation of christmas . you can still sing carols and give to the needy and tell your family you don't want expensive presents ,stay as you were. cheer up and make a happy christmas happen

Well, set your boundaries. You can refuse to be swept into the commercialism. This year I've been carol singing, my kids will make biscuit decorations for the tree (and to eat) and you could easily volunteer to help the homeless. It's entirely up to you.
