The rates vary from cell phone providers. Some providers DO have international plans, so, you might want to call them and ask about this, but still.....this rate will be extremely high compared to using a calling card. Like someone else suggested, go to a store that sells Latin American products and ask them for a good calling card to call Peru, and they will tell you. Also, try checking with some peruvian people (if you know any), and they might tell you. I have nextel, and without a plan, each minute is at least $2.50, and with a plan each minute is less than $1.00. Still expensive, when with a $5.00 calling card you might be able to talk up to 10 hours, depending on the card, and depending on where in the US you are.

Go to a Latin-American store and get a phone card and call from a landline or payphone. Most ethnic stores sell alot of phone cards that are good for calling all sorts of areas. For example, at the Chinese grocery, I got a card that has good rates to call both China and Peru.

I just saw your answer on BU and MIT you answered a while ago, and for somebody that live in Boston, I completely disagree with you.
First, let's get something out of the way, MIT is not an Ivy League school, but yes it is a tough school to get into in terms of engineering.
BU, I agree, is no where as tough as Harvard or MIT, but it is still a tough school to get into as it is know as one of the best schools for research and development. BU has one of the best (top 25) law schools in the country and their management/business schools rank in the top 50 also. BU has an outstanding Economics schools... always ranked in the top 10 every year with U Penn, Harvard, Virginia, and some other top schools.
Yes, generally BU is not as academically challenging as MIT, but BU has a reputation of being one of the best achools in the country and BU alumni are considered smart also (Check Wikipedia on Boston University if you don't believe me).
I also won't be too sure of placing Berkeley above BU, and to say Michigan is much better than BU...I don't think so ... maybe in Football, yes. But what BU lacks in football talent, it makes it up in Hockey.

It depends on the long distance plan you have and what company you go through. Why don't you call your long distance provider and find out?

Just get a calling card from www.lagerstone.com (calling card) section - shouldn't be more than .05 a minute or so.
