I read this joke in the newest ESPN magazine-- The rose bowl is between Michigan and USC. Michigan: "We should be playing Ohio State." USC: "We did our part." and why is michigan not playing OSU?

quote from ESPN magazine that made me laugh--

I was a Texas Cowboys fan, you know... It's kind of hard for me to admit, but the Steeler franchise is one of the really great franchises in football history

After Michigan lost,Urban said that no one in the country wanted to see a rematch, but the polls said that they wanted to see a rematch, and only the deep south states voted for Florida. These Florida gator fans are the biggest hypocrites ever. They won their only national championship in the same situation as Michigan is in. Their national championship game was a rematch against Florida st. who they lost to earlier in the year by, ironically, three points. Also, like this year, they got in because someone got upset in the last game of the season. They would have never gotten a national championship if Nebraska hadn't been upset my Texas. Hm mm? That looks familiar. Oh right, its EXACTLY what happen this year with USC.

The Rose Bowl is the granddaddy of all the bowls, first played in 1902. I have been a Pac 8/10 fan since childhood, and so the Rose Bowl has always been the biggest bowl for me, until they started the BCS. And this year it's a traditional Pac 10 vs Big 10 matchup in the Rose Bowl, and even though I can't stand USC and am neutral about Michigan, I'll be watching.
The scenery at and around the Rose Bowl is the best of all the bowl games: the weather is almost always sunny, the aerial shots of the stadium are great with they way they paint the end zones in each team's colors, and the San Gabriel Mountains behind the Rose Bowl add to the scenery.

Hello, there is a playoff system just not everybody is doing it. What do I mean? Think about it, the Big 12 Championship, the SEC Championship, the ACC Championship, even the Mac has a championship. If your team is in one of these Conferences then you have realized a long time ago that that one game alone can be considered a playoff game. My team is Texas and a couple of seasons ago they were headed to the B(C)S Championship game. All they had to do was beat on Colorado and most of you knew what happened. I'm sure many of you have a similar story about a team you followed. So to all the teams in the Big 10, Big East, Pac 10, and Norte Dame a playoff system would just kill you. So the rematch of Michigan and Ohio State should be the Big 10 Championship. But I'm sure if Michigan lost by 3 they would want a 3rd game just to make sure.

Michigan got screwed they were #2 all year long while Florida was #4 now since USC lost their game and Michigan had the bye Florida should have moved up one spot to #3. Its all about politics

Michigan is not playing OSU because the voters in the polls chose Florida by a very slim margin, mostly because they didn't want a rematch of the last game of the season, and because Florida had tougher wins than Michigan, even if they had a worse loss.

Michigan isnt in the championship game because nobody wanted to see a rematch. last i looked they werent supposed to vote on which game they wanted to see but who the best teams were and michigan is a better team than florida. And then u have urban meyer who ran his mouth saying that michigan doesnt deserve to go to the championship team cause michigan isnt that good just so he and his team could go. Michigan deserves it that is why me need a playoff system.

Arguing about it is futile. It's a shame: American football started out as strictly an American college sport, yet the hopelessly inept body that governs it today (the NCAA) refuses to institute a playoff, which is the ONLY WAY TO DETERMINE A TRUE CHAMPION IN ANY TEAM SPORT.
