Okay, because of your question, I checked out my Dell... and its card reader wasnt working as well... the SD card reader... I reinstalled the driver and it started working like clockwork... Let me know if it helps you...

You have an SD memory card right? (says SD at the side of the slot??) Try reinstalling the drivers ... Go to http://www.dell.com and try installing the drivers for the card reader (Sometimes its not installed) Click Support and Help, then drivers and download, search for your model, click find downloads, look under all headings (its usually under chipset) and install the latest driver.. If that doesn't work try installing the older drivers and try one by one.

Could it be the reader isn't working? I assume this is a USB card reader, right? Do you know for sure that the computer sees the reader? After connecting it, do you see the drive(s) in My Computer? If not, check that your USB and drivers for the device are working correctly. Did you try a different USB port? Are you sure the memory card is inserted into the correct port on the reader? (I ask because some multi-card readers will allow you to put the card in incorrectly - just ask my wife 8=] )

Can you put the reader into another computer and does it work there? If not, maybe the reader is bad.

I've got several Dells and haven't had a problem with any of them.

your laptop would possibly no longer have a slot for the memory card if so what you will ought to do is pass down on your close by pc save and purchase a USB card reader they don't seem to be in any respect high priced at in regards to the comparable value as a clean mouse they are quite undemanding to apply basically plug it in to a a USB port permit residing house windows stumble on it then all you ought to do is insert your memory card and it quite is unplugged whilst no longer in use
