I was drinking Cold Duck (i think) "uva" wine

We would need to know what was spilled and the type of material the sweater is made of.

If it was red wine pour plain soda water on it before it dries and it willl be no problem. If it has already dried it wil only be slightly harder. Simply soak it in cold water with oxiclean. When the stain has completely lifted just wash according to the label.
