I wouldn't even compare them. They're not even marketed for the same types of people.
Lacoste is for older probably business professionals or people with more money
American is the average middle class high school/college student

Lacoste has incredible wear (the shirts can be washed 50 times without showing any fraying or fading color). American Eagle has incredible style and a flattering cut (more hip and trendy).
It really depends on whether you are looking for a hip current style (AE) or timeless look (Lacoste).

never been to lacoste but i do like american eagle a lot.

Well americane agle to me because I live in missouri and there is no lacoste so i have no other choice but to say american eagle. Also the only thing we here about lacoste is the brand. but if there was on of them stores here in missouri i would still probbly chose american eagle cause i love that store.

First ask yourself this- am i more casual or do i like to be more dressed up? How much money can i spend?
Lacoste is more business-like and is better quality but is way more expensive than American Eagle which is younger and less expensive.

Lacoste seems more like euro style, and AE kinda seems like college/coffee house/artsy prep to me.
I don't prefer either, but in my mall Lacoste costs a hell of a lot more.

they bothh are good for different reasons. american eagle has good like sweat jackets. i think that lacoste is better. i am a tennis player though so that could be why i like lacoste better.. i love lacoste.......its my life. if you are going to get a polo, get a lacoste one

It depends on your style. I personally like lacoste polos better, but I don't really buy lacoste ever so I don't really know what kind of stuff they have. Sorry if I'm not any help.
