Don't get Slutz, I mean Bratz.

Get Polly Pocket! They're more modest.

Bratz dolls are not appropriate for a 5 year old.
Nor is an Easy Bake Oven--she's too young for both.

How about a fun art kit? That way, you can work on projects together. Spin art is loads of fun. Lite Brite is another good idea. Chicken Socks books are fun activity books for kids (make your own tiara, drawing, etc.) that you can find at your local bookstore. Or you could buy her a giant coloring poster, some good crayons (Crayola good, RoseArt terrible) and help her color it in.

I bet she'd also love to get a cool looking shirt or dress from her big sister. Add some cute hair ribbons.

Or you could put together a "beauty set" for her. . . fun bubble bath, a new hairbrush, play makeup (they had princess and Hello Kitty makeup sets at Target), hair ribbons and bands, Princess Band-Aids, a princess electric toothbrush, fun kid's toothpaste (it doesn't all have to be princess, of course), and wrap it all in her own makeup case. She'd love it!

Kids that age love all kinds of things. McDee's gift certificate, now charge cards, are fun for them because they can use them like a grown up (use them for my nephews that age). Costume jewelry like a ring or simple pendant necklace works. And depending on your finances, get her a nice kid's sheet set like one from Cinderella.
