No. After hearing this many times, I began to do some congressional research concerning this mattter. My conclusion was the opposite... Israel is controlled byt the USA.

For example, Bush needed a middle eastern skirmish because his Iraqi war was losing support, so what happened? Suddenly Israel gets into a bash with Hezbollah.

That backfired but you get the point.

America is giving Israel around $1 billion in aid every year. Do you think the money is given without strings attached?

Israel and America are allies, but they are not equal partners. America is the only world power now and Israel is just a small Jewish state trying to survive. In most cases, Israel does consult with America about actions they take. So it is really America that controls Israel.

No, not necessarily. Pro Israel lobbies don't "control" America. Its just that they have a lot of influence. And that causes people to be baised to thier side.

I hope to see the day that Israel can live in peace within itself and the Palestinians have thier own state, or integrate into Isreali society with full citizen rights.

No and I'm glad Israel doesn't. America controls
itself and other territories like Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa, Mariana Islands, etc.

WADR, the question is nonsensical and should be turned around. Is it true that Condi and company dictate policy to Israel, and Israel obeys, even against Israel's best interests? Yes.

About 20% of Israel's populations are Arabs, and they are NOT oppressed! In fact, they have the same rights, but fewer obligations than Jews. They have free access to all forms of education and any job, same as Jews do. They enjoy free speech, are represented in the Knesset (parliament), serve in national institutions (one Supreme Court Justice is Arab) and so on.

The gap between the Israeli Arabs and the Jewish population is narrower than similar gaps in Western Europe, between the native European population and the local Muslims (Arabs in France, Turks in Germany, Pakistanis in England). If this were a justification to call it "apartheid", then most of the world would be guilty of it.

A different situation is with the "Palestinians" (the non-Israeli Arab population in what is commonly referred as the "West Bank" and Gaza): they are not Israeli citizens, but in most cases have no citizenship, although some carry American passports. They are not treated same as Israelis (Jewish or Arab), obviously, because they are not entitled to same treatment, no more than Iraqis are entitled to same treatment by the USA as American citizens. No country in the world treats foreign citizens, especially not enemies, the same as its own.

If a child can somehow get whatever he/she wants from his/her parents, in a way, we can say that the child does control the parents. Likewise, little brother Israel has been getting whatever it wants from US. So I say yes.

Oh no... another damn conspiracy theory. Let's put this one down before it starts brainwashing people into becoming "Truthers" who tell us how Israel controls America.
