This is a better review. I copied it from a email i just sent.
I am not going to spoil the movie because I really think you'll like it. even though, you said you dont want to see it. I just put this review in Yahoo Movies, and I'm going to repeat it here.

Sometimes when you know of a franchise that is 20 or whatever years old, (since the last) you worry if a new movie will even be worth watching. The newer Star Wars movies were like that. A lot of people were disapointed by them. After much asking, I got the feeling that most people just felt it had been too long.
So, you think, hey here's a new movie with the same charector, probably the same Story.... Man learns of new challenger,, Man gets pumped up, man gets in ring, goes through hell,.... beats the bad guy.
I bet thats what your thinking of the new one... I know a lot of people that do.

About 5 years ago I read a interview with Stalone saying that he was inspired by George Forman fighting at an old age, and wondered

what ROCKY might be like. Of course that set off a few alarms.. Rocky is too old to fight a real fight.
But the movie got closer to release and then the rumors came: Adrian is dead.... Rocky wont survive the fight, and many others.
Only one rumor was true.

I like many others went to this movie thinking the same thing: Rocky fights a big fight, and in the end finds the extra strength to turn it around.

Well I'm not going to ruin it, but maybe you should see.

Here's a little basis for the movie.

Rocky after 3 years since Adrian's death is still grieving. On her anniversary, Rocky revisits some old friends and sites. While in one he meets a woman who he once helped get off the streets, known as Lil Marie from Rocky 1. Now she is grown up and wants to be Rocky's friend. Through her and a bad relationship with his son, Rocky begins to finally move on with his life.

Mason Dixon is the current Heavy Weight Champion, but he is no favorite. Most people see him as fighting onl

When a press show looks over the years at different ways people can box, they take Dixon and Balboa and say, can Dixon fight with passion the way Balboa did for many years.

Rocky fights to get his license, and through friends gets ready.. But this is not a fight like in the other movies.....

I will leave it at that. I think you would love this movie. Its not like any of the other Rocky's. It brings a lot of old faces and some surprise guests back one last time.

anyway i hope this helps.. Some sequels are worth it.

I've seen it and enjoyed it. The majority of critical reviews have been positive. I've noticed in the negative reviews that the critic usually in the first paragraph dogs the concept, joking about Rocky's age, commenting about the number of Rocky films, and doubting the "realism". As soon as I see these comments headlining or beginning a review (of any film) I know that the critic is NOT making a true REVIEW of the work, but is instead voicing his or her personal OPINION about the concept.

As for it being unrealistic, a movie theater is NOT were realism should be sought. "Pirates..", "Over The Hedge", "Superman Returns" and on and on are not realistic,..but ARE enjoyable. Is Rocky too old to box? Check boxing history, dear naysayers.

Reality is merely a matter of perception. A movie is merely a matter of entertainment, to enjoy or not enjoy,..appreciate or not appreciate.

Could you imagine someone calling something that you created (perhaps even out of love) garbage just for the sport of it or for self-gratification?

Lighten up and enjoy the movie. If it disappoints, remember the old phrase, "It's only a movie".

Could a 60 year old man beat a young fighter? Well how about this. Muhammad Ali is 65. Could he beat Wladimir Klitschko or Shannon Briggs? All he needs are some hurtin' bombs. Please can't you see how silly that is. http://www.house.gov/clay/images/photo016.jpg take a look at a 65 year old boxer.

Some movies are set in the world of reality and others aren't. Now if Rocky flew into the ring and revealed he was from the planet Krypton. I would give the film some slack. This film isn't a science fiction or a fantasy. its fiction yes but its trying to say the premise is real.

And what happened to all of the talk about Rocky not being about to get a license due to medical reason. What happen to the brain damage.

Foreman fought when he was 45. Not 65. I know how about we do a movie on a 60 year old quarterback taking the Los Angeles Raiders to the Superbowl. No no I got it. How about Sugar Ray Leonard vs Oscar De La Hoya or Floyd Mayweather Jr.

I would have believed Rocky Balboa if he had been training his son. Now that's something that happens a lot in boxing.

Awe man I just got home from watching Rocky Balboa. I have been a fan of the franchise since I was a little kid and let me tell you this movie follows through. I will say that because I am older now I can relate to the aging thing. It was so real that I too was sad when those moments came up.

If you keep things in perspective that this is a "move" and like any movie is for entertainment you will not be disappointed. I loved the characters since movie one and Stallone is great at making the characters believable. I missed Adriane. I wont spoil this but GOD!!! if your a fan you will love how he's ended the franchise.

Well, that's not really that huge - I mean the orginal made like $125 mill or more back in '76, so figure out for inflation and you see the difference. It's respectable for a movie franchise that has been dead for like 20 years, especially when the main character is the story and the same actor is still trying to make it fly. It cost about $25 million to make. You have to work hard to make a stinker like Basic Instinct 2. Sharon stone ought to buy a restaurant and give up the acting gig...

I thought the movie was interesting and I liked it somewhat but in my heart, I was always a big Rocky fan, and hoping the ending would have been somewhat different (not that it was horrible, but I was hoping for something much grander, maybe I was too optimistic) to end this.
