Hmmm...I've used them...a lot.
These days I tend to stay away from them, but I'm not going to tell you that they're "evil" and all that crap.
Just make sure you research and use it the right way.

I have worked with an ouija board a lot of times and let me tell you that it's not a game. I am not saying that it's a doorway to evil but the ouija board is like a telephone with which you can contact spirits but you never know who is calling from the other side. There must be adlest 3 people in the room in order to work with the board. Turn off the lights and lit some candles in a circle. Then 2 of you have to sit opocite eachother and put your hands on the panchlete. The other person has to write the leters and number that the board shows. Let me warn you that you may fall in some sort of a trance and you might feel a litle wierd but it's ok. ask a question and close you eyes, relax and let your hands move on their own. don't try to control them yourself. DO NOT ASK QUESTION LIKE are you a real ghost and if you are show us! because you might invoke a demon into your world. Just ask normal questions like am i gonna have an a+ or something like that. If you feel scared or something bad quickly open ypur eyes and turn the panchlete to the word GOODBYE then turn the board over with the back side. Anyways it's a good idea to have a witch with you when you work with an ouija board. I am and everytime i do a protection spell before i use it with my friend who are witches too. Best of luck :)))

I would say that it's not worth the time. It's just suggestion working. So if you are not susceptible to head games you won't get much out of it. It won't give you any real practical info. Plus, if you are in a really bad space mentally, it could magnify the effect. Hence the stories of evil spirits from those who managed to freak themselves out.

Stay away!!! I've worked in the occult field, and you are messing with something that you don't understand. To some it is a harmless game, but I know you could be opening doors that could lead to big trouble. I kid you not!

I had one, answers were not correct.I've also heard people say that you could accidentally open doors that should be left unopened If you like that sort of thing watch Ghost Whisperer or Medium and leave it at that.

Wrong way to contact ghosts.
It's purely psychological.
Try some more plausible divination methods.
