First dab ice on it and get as much as possible to crack off the carpet. Then lay a thick brown paper grocery sack down and using the high setting on your clothes iron, iron over the bag where the wax is. The heat of the iron will melt the wax and the paper bag will absorb the liquefied wax. Repeat as necessary using a clean spot on the bag. If there is any residual oiliness spot clean with Goof Off water base formula.

Pull up the bulk of it with your hands (as much as you possibly can). Next, take a clothes iron and a paper grocery sack, lay the sack over the spilled candle, and iron over it. Push down slightly on the sack for a moment and let it cool before removing the sack. The melted wax will stick to the bag and you should be able to remove it easily. This will take SEVERAL tries before you're able to get most of the wax out. It may still leave a waxy residue and slight discoloration (depending on the color of the candle).

Carefully! Start by using a knife to carefully cut out all of the big chunks.
Once you have as much as you can that way, take a big pile of paper towels and put on top of it. Take a warm iron and melt the wax. It will soak into the toweling. Replace the toweling often.
Make sure not to melt the carpet itself. I removed a huge pile of wax and saved the deposit on an apartment doing this.

A hair dryer and paper towels. Heat a little bit a time and mop up. It takes a while, but it works- I did it when the mold on a a huge pine scented candle I was making came apart. Still smells good when you vacuum, but the wax is all gone and not stiff.
Good luck.

Carefully! pour small amounts of boiling hot water on the wax and it will soften and disolve down thru the carpet and into the the backing and pad.
Voila' it is gone from the carpet and posses no harm in the jute and padding.
