Haha, yeah definitely W.O.W if they are into that kind of gaming, However, Halo seems to be popular with almost any gamer...even nongamers! For RPG lovers..probably Final Fantasy (Seven is the best!)..I like Kingdom Hearts as well.
Oh yeah..Guild Wars is similar to W.O.W but you don't have to pay to play!

depends on what you want. if you want shooters, get a 360. quirky games, a Wii. just games in general, a 360 or possibly a PS3. the DS would be your best bet if you're an RPG lover.
