Is it also possible to get caught downloading movies?

HELL YES!

The "internet police" is the RIAA, the people who enforce copyrights for the recording industry.

My local ISP gets phone calls about once a week, telling the ISP that one of the ISP's client is being naughty. The ISP then turns off the account until the warnings are given to the person paying the account.

Should the person keep downloading, the RIAA is no shy in the least about suing people. They've got more money than you do, and it will be cheaper to pay them off than to pay your lawyers to defend you. You should figure on $5000 (maybe more) for the fines.

Not a formal police force, no, but the RIAA is not beneath setting up honeypot download sites and gathering information on downloaders since the IP addresses are available. They can (and occasionally do) track down the "guilty" party to make an example of them with a high $$$ lawsuit.

Pirate at your own risk! And remember that there are LOTS of infected downloads there masquerading as content!

It is possible to get caught, and the penalties just don't make it worth trying.

Just wait a while, pay for the movie, and you'll sleep a lot better.

There is a supervising group but you should be ok unless you download an unreasonable number of files per day

It could be possible but it rarely happens. they could search ip address and find where your computer and the location were you live. But for the police to do that they have to hire a professional technician but it would cost too much money for them. But i havent ever heard nobody getting caught from limewire.

hahahahaha,
thats just a scam to scare people they can get info like that if they have a eletronic transmitter in your computer which was put in there by police...
but i would choose a safer program to download from eg.
1)MP3 rocket (safer version of Limewire)
and many more
