1) Use Control Panel, Network Setup Wizard and install both computers in the same workgroup.
2) Copy the files to a shared folder. Usually, Shared Pictures and Shared Music are setup by Windows XP automatically.
3) Click on My Network Places, View Workgroup computers. You should see your shared folders. Click and drag them to your disk, or vice versa.

first check if you have wireless on the PC. to get wireless if you dont, get a dongle, a cheap one will do. OR if you dont want to go wirless use a LAN cable (non-crossover). Then setup home small or office networking via the control panel. If that doesnt show any folders in My Network Places then go to anywhere in My Documents or anywhere with an address bar. MAKE SURE YOUR LAN OR WIRELESS IS CONNECTED!!!! then check your IP through the 2 little windows in the bottom right > support. once you have done that type that IP into the address bar I mentioned. Then go to the computer you want to send them to and setup a shared folder. once you have done this there will be a window open displaying the shared folders and printers/scanners shown but all we want is the folder.

Create a shared folder on one of them, either the laptop or the other computer, and then both will be able to put files into there and read from there.

Refer to the Help in Windows for sharing files and folders.
