For the past 15 years or so, my grandmother and I have been re-gifting the same cruddy Liza Minelli cassette tape each Christmas (or other gift exchanging occasion), and I'm out of new ideas for how to get this gift to her without her suspecting or knowing she's about to get it. We always use stealth. Here's what's already been done (that I can remember):

1) Giving the gift vicariously through another relative.
2) Having the gift on the front porch a month in advance w/a sign "Do not open until x-mas."
3) Carved a hole out of a book to create a compartment.
4) Baby shower gift -- in there with the onesies.

To Van T: Maybe I need to clarify something?? I don't know?? This question shouldn't offend anybody to the extent that somebody suggest my grandmother and I need therapy! I'm completely and totally baffled by your reaction! We both dislike Liza Minelli and we do this for fun or as a gag... an ongoing joke. Did I maybe needed to mention that? I don't know...?

I should also mention that she has never driven a day in her life because she is legally blind. She can see, but not very well. All of her shopping is done for her or she tags along.

have a singing type telegram deliver it to her and have them sing and dance for her then hand her the gift...

send her a letter telling her she has to go to the post office to pick up a package and she has to bring at least a pick up truck, and have a giant box there for her to pick up, and have the tiny gift inside of it...

hire Bozo the Clown to give her the gift...

if her heart can take it, hire the Chip in Dales to sing and dance for her and hand her the gift...

smile
good luck

Just when I thought I heard it all.

Anthony, of all the games you could play in the world (with
Grandma) this one is awful! I hope you could admit that.
My last answer may have been brutal but your Q. was the
worst I had ever encountered so far. I'm sorry I upset you but
this isn't an average Christmas question.
Anyway, since I came upon your question, I may as
well answer it the way you want it answered.
What's the rule? Does it have to be opened in order for the
other to be stuck with it? or can it just be other's cassette
once it's been touched, handled by them?

1.) Wrap the ugly Liza cassette up in Christmas wrap and
ask a neighbor of her's whom you can trust to deliver it to her
as a gift from the neighbor. Give neighbor specific instructions
and explain it to the neighbor afterwards.
Give it to one of her neighbor's kids to deliver it.
Offer the kid a few dollars to do it.
2.) If she is a dedicated customer of one particular company,
create special labels that look like they're from the company
and put them on her package. It should say something like
"A gift to our valued customers from your friends at (company)."
Mail it to her. Maybe that will entice her to open it up.
