The Ipod nano is good, and lowest in price ( of those that are available right now). The price is even lower if you get it in silver. Green is another highley favored color and the pink one has been particularly in high demand after being discontinued but now re-released. ( though as I said, color ones are more pricey).

I am an owner of an Ipod and I have a pink mini. I am really not that pleased, because it is in black and white on the screen.
The cheapest iPod is a shuffle, which is around $99 dollars. Some people say the cheapest is a nano but it isnt. The shuffle is skinny and white and has no screen, only buttons. It is not very conventional because you cannot view pictures, play games , view playlists, watch movies, and tv shows. So personally, I would say NO to a Shuffle.
So, this all leads up to which to purchase. I would Say an iPod Video. I would choose that iPod because you can do everything a shuffle cannot, plus it is in color!
Choose whichever color is your fave!

I really hope I helped.

I would get somthing diff than an ipod, they are getting a little outdated, I would get like a zen or somthing, everyone has an ipod, If you get one I would get black cause it may show scratches less. Also get a cover before you use it at all, get one that you wont have to open and close alot, there are good plastic slip on covers, , Also I would roccomend trying a friends or go to a store where you can try many diff models out, cause this is kind of a big purchase so you want to make sure your going to be pleased with what your buying for a long time.

Best iPod:

Probably the iPod Nano because it is compact, mobile, and cheap. Also, you can hack into (using iPod Linux) and even play videos on it! But, i wouldn't recommend that unless you know what you're doing, or you know somebody who knows what they're doing.

Best Color:

Probably your favorite color, but personally blue or black are perfect.

i would suggest getting a different brand. ipods have crappy compresion (cant store as many songs) and they are more exspensive. I would recommened a creative zen. but, if you must get an ipod get the video ipod(if you have the money). DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES GET AN IPOD SHUFFLE. THEY SUCK.
