I have a 2001 with a 5.3 that makes a light tap for a minute or so when starting in colder weather. I;ve had the oil pump go out, and replaced, but it occasionally still does it. Doesn't bother me though, it's got 225,000 original motor miles. Love it, definitely recommend that or the older 4.3s.

i own a shop,and not that i know of,,they claim to have them all taken care of now,,but once In a while you,ll run across one with the problem,,but not like it used To be,good luck hope this help,s.,have a good x-mas.

I am not sure.Do you own one of them if so check your knock sensor, on your engine.
