First, BRAVO to you for going cold turkey!!! My parents did it 25 years ago after smoking for 40 or so years. It CAN be done but it's tough to be sure.
Chew gum or suck on some candies, get your mind off cigarettes and do something else -- run around the block, cook, have sex, eat popcorn (with no salt or butter!), etc. You can do it!!! Keep it up.

Well I commend you on the 48 hours. I am an ex smoker and I know just how hard it is. I got the patches but they are expensive. But other things that I had to do was change my life style. For example. I used to eat dinner and sit at the table and smoke a cigerette. Now I just get up and do something to keep busy. Get rid of all the ashtrays. Drink plenty of water and try and stay away from caffine due to it is a stimulate. Start to excersise if you don't all ready. Most importanly keep yourself busy and find a support group or person that can help you get through this. You can do it if you put your mind to it. It will not be easy but it can be done. Good luck and I will pray for ya!!!

Im at 28 days without one right now after 3 days the withdrawls get easier then its just triggers like eating driving ect there is only one way to not smoke.....thats to NOT SMOKE! haha good luck

Get a patch. Try bum with nicotine. Keep your mouth occupied with hard candies (Jolly Ranchers are good), suckers, etc.
If that does not hurt try a pipe and wean your self off cigarettes.
