Good question. I'll answer it in one second.
I hate idiots that say to put lotion on it. Have you ever heard of it BURNING and causing an INFECTION?
I hate idiots that say tampons are only for sexually active women. Not true. I started using tampons when I was 13. My mom didn't want me to but I did. I wasn't sexually active.
I also hate idiots that say you have to tear your hymen. Especially "mothers" that say your hymen is right there at the opening.
You can follow the instructions in the box. I had to for my first time. Also, try to angle it only a little bit, if you angle it too much it will hurt very bad. If you still are having troubles, discuss it with your mother. You may not be able to use tampons. I have a few friends that can't use them because it hurts too bad because they are a bit too tight. If your flow is really light you may not need to use a tampon, and if you're forcing it in it can damage something. Also, even if your flow is heavy you still may be too dry. I've had that problem, if you're near water, place a bit of water on the applicator, it could help. If you're not near a sink, although I don't suggest it, spit can work too. Also, some women experience have issues with the cardboard applicators. Eww...they hurt, and stick. So try for the plastic kind if you're not using them already.
Sorry for so long. Take care and good luck.

imagine of your vulva (that's all the outer elements of your genitals which incorporates the lips and clitoris) like this: imagine wearing a pair of denims. there is the position interior the crotch of the denims the position all those 4 seams come at the same time. that is almost the position your vagina is. that's plenty extra decrease back than you may imagine, that's why I had a lot of worry when I first began utilizing tampons. the ideal thanks to locate that is--definite, i understand, it sounds gross--utilizing your palms. do this: get up and positioned one leg up on a low stool, sink, bathroom or some thing so as that your knee is bent up. With one hand, open the lips of your vulva and, with the different, imagine that spot the position the seam comes at the same time on your denims. positioned the tampon in that spot and take a verify out to push it up gently. If it slips in, you've stumbled on your vagina. otherwise, you may try utilizing a reflect to locate it. Insert it at an attitude getting into course of your decrease back, considering vaginas tilt backward extremely of immediately up. Then save on with the guidelines that contain the tampons. i have lined some links that are very efficient so that you may seem at.

Make sure that it is angled back, not up.
Relax and make sure that your legs are spread quite wide or that you're using another position that opens up the vagina.
Don't push the tampon out of the applicator until the applicator is in as far as it's supposed to be.
A little lubrication might help too. K-Y Jelly or something similar is best.
If it doesn't work for you, it's okay. You can just use pads.

It's possible that your hyman is too thick to allow tampons, etc.to enter. You should see a gynacologist and have her do an exam. There are dilators that can help loosen this strong band. They come in different sizes that you progress to but they cost about $150.00 and need to be ordered by your gynocologist. If it's still impossible you may need some minor surgery to correct this problem.

My name is Holly too =)
I had troubles putting in a tampon too.
First time I put in a tampon, I put a mirror infront of me, so I could see what I was doing. It shouldn't hurt, unless your trying in the wrong spot. What I would do, is just use pads, unless you need a tampon urgently, for something like swimming.
Good luck.

I had trouble too...
its all about getting used to them, so wait til ur flow is strong, i.e. 2nd or 3rd day into the period, it will slide in much easier.
I usually put one leg up on the toilet and push it in that way.... if it doesnt go in that way, bend over your knees and try like that.
But definitely if its ur first time using tampons, wait til ur flow is heavier, that way u get more practice and it doesnt hurt.

Hi Holly! If you cannot put in a mini tampon, then u do not need to use one. You are not bleeding heavily enough. Please DON"T FORCE IT! It will just be that much harder to remove. Try using a pad until your bleeding picks up.
Also, do not use lotion on your vaginal area...it will irritate the tissue and can cause infection(not to mention-it will burn like heck!!!)!

use pads, much better, no pain, no worrying about toxic shock syndrome. Always Ultra with wings are the best!!
But if you really want/need to use tampons, just relax, you'll get it.
Good Luck!!
