Skype is a Voice version of Messenger very good for keeping in touch with distant relatives who also use this free service, you can also buy a handset and calltime and use these to call land based numbers at very low cost (next best thing if you ask me)

its a voice over internet application, you can use it to make phonecalls from your pc for a charge or you can all other skype users for free.
To use it you need a headset or some sort of usb phone

its the internet's version of a telephone. you download the program, then you can call ,(ala voip) via your internet connection. it is internet dependent. can even download it on your PDA telephone so you can check out any wifi hotspot and call the world installed with the same program for FREEE!!!!!!!!
