It depends on the purpose of the "day off" for the kids. Schools often have "non-student" days in which the teachers are required to attend trainings. In those cases, the teachers will be working a regular length school day.
During Christmas break, teachers are not required to come to school. But many will spend a day or more in their classroom on their free time, getting prepared for the new year. Most people don't realize how much time goes into preparing lessons and materials, making the classroom an inviting learning environment, correcting papers and tests, etc. I will spend probably 8 to 10 hours over winter break cleaning up the seasonal materials, decorating for the new year, preparing the units for the upcoming themes, etc.
As far as snow days, generally those are called because travel would be unsafe, so the teachers probably don't have to report to school. But you can bet that many teachers are still using that time to get school-related work done.

Teachers have teacher workshop days, sometimes for no reason and the kids don't have to come in. They usually are posted on the schoo calendar and the teachers go to workshops related to their profession to learn things or see cool new classroom stuff. Usually all the holidays kids get off for are the same for teachers and snow days, the teachers don't have to come in either. Someties the teachers stay allday for workshops or half a day or whenever they finish.

Interesting question...I'll answer them the best I can...
Teachers are not required to report to school during school/vacation breaks on the school calendar. Snow days...thank goodness, no one goes to school that day!
The only time teachers would have to come in is on Inservice Days or Conferences...students might have the day off or a half day and teachers would be required to stay in school till the end of the regular school day. Hope that answers your question.

For snow days, it depends on the school district and how bad the road conditions are. I have had to go to school on days when the roads were not safe enough for buses but they felt is was safe enough for cars.
For scheduled breaks, like Christmas break, we get some time off too. We enjoy it just as much as you do!

There are specific teacher work days but they do not fall on national holidays, snow days or weather make up days (unused snow days). You can check the school schedule by visiting your countys school board website and following links to the district calendar.

If its Christmas Holiday or another holiday, they don't have to come.
But if its like regular holiday like saturday and sunday, I think sometimes they have to come. Like if its interview, they have to come. If there is a argent meeting, they have to come. If the principal call them, they have to come. If they left something like test paper, purse, glass, bags, gifts etc, they have to come.
