It really depends on what you want to do with the phone and how techy you are. First off, i STRONGLY recommend going with Verizon Wireless for a carrier. My family has had a few of the other providers and verizon had had the best reception all over the states. As for phones, I have a LG VX8300 and love it. It has an mp3 player built in and it can be hacked with bitpim. What i mean by that is with phones like the razor or chocolate, they are unhackable. Nobody has been able to hack their versions of brew. You won't be able to put custom ringtones on it, you would have to do with stock or buy them for quite a bit. Most LG phones can be hacked with bitpim. Or if you want to go high-end, take a look at the blackjack. Other good choices are phones that run Windows mobile. Again, it really depends on what you want your phone to do.
