1970 Model 70 JD lawn tractor won't charge battery. Rectifier plate looks broken. Need schematic, troubleshooting and repair info

You can repair the rectifier plate by doing this. First off, use epoxy glue (two part) to hold the pieces back together with extra build up on the back for support.

Then, take small wire and solder the wires across each solder circuit where the solder broken.

Or order a new part from the manufacture. IF you have you Owners manual, there is probably a parts list in it. IF not, go to a John Deere lawn tractor repair place and get them to order the part for you. Good luck. Pops

The right time will be when you truly are unable or unwilling to continue doing this with a push mower. But, you will have to have the money or the credit. So, start saving now and when you have finally had enough, go buy it. Although, I have lived in a more rural community and what many people did that had large spreads was to mow a normal yard area around the house and drive and let the rest go to seed. If snakes are a problem, you will have to mow further from the house. Another thing to think about with this is brush/wild fires. Lightning can start a grass fire the will spread rapidly.
