Among friends? Lucky?
The only thing I can think of is a root word. This is one with prefixes and suffixes or has been changed to form an adjective etc but other than this I would say its just a coincidence

a word ... um
well it's not a word is it? 'cos it's in a word already so it is contributing to soemthing else's meaning and a word that's taken out of another word is it's own word and there's already a name for that which would be either whatever that word is or "word" so that word that you're talking about doesn't really exist really... it just sorta exists
that's why there's no name for it

The word holding the smaller word is called the CONTAINER.
For example : In courthouse, thou is contained within courthouse.
And it follows from this that the smaller word is called the CONTAINED word.
