I used to dance and took modern dance lessons for a few years when I was in my teens.

I also took a GCSE in dance and just missed an A. I think that I can choreograph and just wondered where to start!

Now I am twenty four years old and just don't know which dance style to take and how to realistically achieve my aims?

Has anyone got any first hand advice? And am I too old?

You are a little old to be a professional dancer because people who are at your age have already been dancing for years and years.

BUT, you can sign up to a dance class which teaches all sorts of dance styles and pick the one(s) you like. You can then join a focussed class and presumably, those classes will have performances which you will be part of. If you watch the dance competition reality programmes - bump and grind - so you think you can dance - alot of the people on these programmes are skilled and experienced dancers and even they get rejected.

this is how a dance director will judge you, so unless you are sh*t hot just treat the dance as a hobby.

Your never to old to learn babe.and what makes you think 24 is old ? Why not just look in the phone book and look for dancing schools, You may be with a lot of kiddies or teenies or even elderly people but I am sure the instructor will help you fit in. my grandaughter dances and she is 15 and works in the local asda store at weekends teaching young kiddies to dance. Go for it love and try.

I just got done with the semester at school and we did modern dance., it was fun since it had no rules like ballet or jazz. its whatever you feel like! you are not too old. too old would be like.,... 99 years or more! and i say get a group of your friends and just start dancing in the streets. your bound to get noticed by some one! but most importantly HAVE FUN!
