Prior to the Nazi attack on Russia, they had signed a non aggression treaty thereby keeping Russia out of the war. Italy was allied with Germany, Spain was also a friend to Germany because of Hitlers support of Franco.

So for a time, the ONLY country that was fighting Hitler and Nazi Germany was England.

Now had Hitler waited until Britain was in the bag before attacking russia he never would have been caught in a two froont war and would have had the manpower to get to Moscow before the winter set in. That one change in history and Germany would have owned the whole of Europe and large parts of Asia as well.

Sweden traded steel to Germany and England but hid all of Denmark's Jews after 1942. Switzerland shot down both German and Allied planes that strayed into Switzerland's airspace. Spain and Portugal was a conduit for escaped PO W's aircrews and Jew's out of Occupied Europe.
