Spell checking is apparently available ONLY when you ask a question. I checked the screen there, and see this message: "Ask Your Question: Enter Your Question and Check Spelling" There's a spell check icon/tab right by the subject line of your message.

By the way, I am sensitive to the fact that many people here speak English as a second language. I feel most times I can tell who is not a native speaker of English, and who is simply not very firm in their sense of how things are spelled.

Sometimes, I get in a rush to be one of the first to respond to a question, and when I check what I entered, after submitting it, I find typos galore. I realize, also, you cannot edit a question (versus an answer) for typos, only append it.

The immediate prompt for this post was spotting a question that was rife with typos. It sort of made me bristle. I thought "Why not just make a joke of it, instead of berating them and confronting them on their spelling?" -- which doesn't usually help anybody.

I would say not 100%. Example: I can spell just fine but my typing is atrocious.

They way that people text now a lot of them don't know how to spell a whole word. It's all abbreviated. Some of them don't even know how to hold a conversation because they are so busy texting.

[ Joshua ]... spell check is just above the box that you type your answer in on the right side. It's called "Check Spelling." It's not always right so double check when it says that you have something spelled wrong.

I don't believe Yahoo is a good site to prove your point by.

After all, a lot of people on here don't have English as their original language, so you can't really "blame" them for making spelling-mistakes.

Mind you, I even think most of the "foreigners" on here make less spelling-mistakes than the people who's first language is English.....simply because the "foreigners" try harder to type correct spelled words. (I certainly do!)

As far as grammar-mistakes goes, I am sure i make quite a lot of those.....simply because in most foreign countries the build-up (?) of a sentence is different than (different "to"??) the build-up of English written sentences.

P.s. I still haven't been able to find "Spell-check" on here, can you point me in the right direction, please?

There is also a missing gene that keeps people from clicking the 'check spelling' link at the right top side of the answer box. It is truly a mystery.

No i don't think so, theres probably lots of people who are like me and are watching tv and getting up and down to children playing outside and folding washing and other chores while browsing through answers, who make silly typos that they wouldn't normally make if they were paying full attention or writing
