I use a relatively small tablet, but it hasn't failed me yet!

Wacom tablets seem to be the standard in the art world. My own is a wacom tablet (Graphire I believe.) Check out their website, they have a test to evaluate the product that would fit you most. http://wacom.com/

Your cursor appears on your drawing on the screen whenever you get the pen near to the tablet surface. That's how you know when to put it down and begin to draw. Most programs also have a pressure component which you can set; so that, for example, your line gets darker if you press harder. The Wacom is a great tablet. I have the second model ever made (6X8) and still use it with an ADB/USB converter. You will be glad if you get one.

Tablet PC's are really designed for mobility not for power. I would go with a Gateway Tablet PC. We bought for a faculty member which included a 15" display, a 2.0GHz processor with 2GB of RAM and a decent video adapter for about $2,100. That was education pricing though.

i don't really know about tablets and i am assuming you mean Tablet PC's but try searching the internet for them. like search ebay for one that is good and then try to see where you can buy it from or even buy it off ebay. but if you buy it off ebay it might not come with an os and you will have to buy Win XP Tablet Editon or else it won't be usable.
