I am going through a divorce and we have 50-50 custody with our 2 kids. Lately, my ex hasnt been seeing them on his weekends and weekdays. I asked him if he relized that new years weekend is his turn for the kids, and asked why he has been blowing off his time with the kids lately. He says he cant have them new years weekend because he is leaving for L.A. to pursue an acting career. Then says "I think you need to just have 100% custody, because I cant juggle trying to become an actor and take care of the kids. But when I make it big, then I should have 100% custody, because I think if they go to school in Beverly Hills that would be a better lifestyle for them, and I will have my mom come move there too, to be their nanny."
We have only been separated almost 2 months, and all the sudden he is "going to hollywood". We live in Arizona, used to live in San Diego, CA. He also then started asking me "what would you do if I started driving Vipers, and Humvees". Any comments on this?

I am working on getting the papers done hopefully before he leaves on his trip. I just dont understand this-plus, everytime I talk to him, he says "oh, another person told me today that I would make a perfect actor because I have the face for a goodguy/badguy". Its ALL he can talk about..."Im going to be an actor"

Oh, btw, he fired his lawyer last month (I filed 2 months ago) and doesnt plan on using one at all. I think he is crazy in the head...
Comments from guys point of view would be great.

I do find a dull humour to this, but I am mostly stunned because in the begining he tried for 100% custody and lost and became responsible for my lawyer fees, which is why he fired his lawyer. maybe he has NPD.

If he offers 100% custody then do it. I casually gave my ex half custody because I thought it was the right thing to do for my child but it ended up bitting me in the asss. I tried to force my ex in having a descent relationship with my daughter but ultimately I should have just taken full custody.....which is what he offered at first. Duh to me.
And if he is talking about driving Vipers and Humvees, he is just trying to get a reaction out of ya. Don't react, just say "well then you'll have no problem paying child support eh".

He seems to be in denial. Not everyone is cut out to be an actor, and dropping his fatherly duties to pursue what could be a wild goose trip is very childish. I would take him up on the 100% custody though, because the children need a stable environment and since he got turned down himself for 100%, the judge saw something not right. He is looking out for himself and not for his children.

Hurry up and take the 100% custody, do not turn down this offer. He is unstable, and it should go on record that he chose to give up custody for his acting career. I guarantee you he will never get full custody of your children, he will be very lucky if he ever regains 50% custody.

well, at least he was honest enough to tell you, instead of just leaving and saying nothing.

he will chase his dream no matter what the cost. in this case, its his kids. that will speak volumes to a judge, who wont just hand over custody to someone who wants to be an actor instead of being there for his kids.

if (and thats a pretty big IF) he makes it, just cross that bridge when you come to it.

Have him sign over his parental rights. Sorry, but what he said is hilarious. I'd be laughing so hard for years to come.

he is shirking his responsibility to his kids, he is preoccupied with something or someone. maybe he has met a woman with money, maybe he really thinks he will secede in Hollywood. think he has met someone and has big ideas.

Do your kids a favor and take it. He sounds selfish and is only concerned about himself
