I have been using a portable harddrive for my windows. However when i use the harddrive on my mac i can only read the data. Is there any chance to change this so i can put stuff on my mac onto the harddrive?

Your portable hard drive is formatted using NTFS. In order to write to the volume, reformat it using FAT or FAT32.

the mac is a different file format from windows so no you can't
the only way you could do that is if you had windows xp and mac x9 on a dual boot system then you could copy the files into windows and use them but could not use them on the mac system
