Make something nice for everyone in your family even if you bought them a gift. Put together a picture of you and them in a frame and then write what you like about this person or how they changed or enhanced your life. I celebrate Yule and try to do this stuff all year long with little notes to people.

Every year, my family gets together and go to the movies Christmas Day. Of course it's after we open presents and eat breakfast. However, it's a great way to spend time together and shut everyone up for a few hours.

Do something nice for someone...volunteer to help feed Christmas dinner for the needy...visit someone who is alone during the holidays or have them at you home...think outside the box...there are all kinds of things a person can do this time of year to help others and create new traditions.

Volunteer to serve at the soup kitchen downtown? Put together a donation for the food bank or the homeless shelter? Buy a goat for a fourth-world family?

And there's always video games.
