Well welcome to the world of where your pen is your brush and the paper is your expression. You probably discovered that by writing you feel more accomplished, better understanding of how the world revolves around you. At first you felt that poetry was not right for you. But as you read and more, your interest grew more. I have been there too. I am 17 and I started to write poem since I was in 6th grade.

You found it as a means of self-expression. I used to hate poetry too, because they made us dissect it and analyze it to death all through school. It should be enjoyed and felt, not analyzed. Today, they teach kids about the different types and how to write them. I'm still not much of a consumer of poetry, but I can appreciate it and have even written some.

Poetry paints the picture and we get immersed in the picture . . . as if we were really there.
