I have inserted the disk to download camera software, still having problems. I've attached the camera USB cable to my camera and the back of my laptop. Is it something I have to do to add the USB as "hardware"? I'm new at this, please help. Thank you!!

Windows 98 (even se) was totally crap at supporting USB.

Chances are you need :-
1) latest Inspirion USB driver from Dell (they have a good web site = go look & see if there is a new version for the EXACT Model of your laptop)

2) Special Win98 drivers for the Polaroid - again go see if there is a newer version available for Win98 on the web (Polaroid site)

3) Do the install in the RIGHT order (RTFM)
ONLY ONE of the methods below will actually work
EITHER it's :-
a) Install drivers first then plug in the device
OR it's
b) Plug in device, wait for PC to 'auto-detect' & then guide the wizard to the drivers.

Get this wrong & you have to uninstall & reboot a few times before you can start again.

Even then it's 'hit or miss'
