I'm a nurse and Yes your daughter is more than likely going to get it. I am really sorry I have 3 girls my self and my oldest gets it about 2-3 times a year. Your doctor can not give you a preventative med or antibiotic for it due to the fact she does not have the virus yet. If you have to pick between Tylenol or Ibuprofen then go with the IBU, Tyl. last 4-6 and IBU last 6-8. You don't have to give your child as much. Also if you are bottle feeding use the playtex bag and bottles rather than the normal bottle the baby uses. This will make it easier for the baby to feed and won't put as much suction on her throat. Good Luck Honey you are going to need it!! :)

Most children under 2 years old do not catch strep throat. If she does get sick you will notice that she will be fussy, run a temperature, and not want to eat anything. The only thing you can do for a baby this young is to give her either tylenol or motrin for the fever or pain and see your doctor to make sure she doesn't have strep.

my husband and I had a bad case of strep throat back in May. I have three children(one that was just 2 months) and none got sick. Just dont cough on the baby and Dont kiss her !! (I know that will be hard) After taking antibiotics for 24 hours you arent contagious anymore (as told to me by my doctor). Also after 24 hours of antibiotics get a new toothbrush - toss the other. Also wash your hands often! Wash all eating utensils and cups and plates in HOT soapy water to sanitize or put them in the dishwasher. Keep the same stuff for each person till everyone is well. Feel Better :)

I'd call your doctor and let him know that two other people in the house have strep, ask him if he'll go ahead and give her meds to prevent some times they will do it. To make her more comfy Tylenol, Johnson's and Johnson's makes a "vaporub" stuff that is wonderful that will help with the chest congestion pain and of course lots of love!

I would call your pediatrician, I dont know much about strep I never had it, but my sister gets it atleast 2 times a year and I know its seriously contagious and uncomfortable. The baby may not get it, (some people are sort of immuned to it).

VERY IMPORTANT: you have to realise that you cannot keep ure kid "wrapped up in a cotton ball". Kids and babies alike HAVE TO become sick at times to allow theyre immune systems to develop. Please keep this in mind and rest assure that whenever a baby gets sick, the stronger they become. Contact youre doc if you are becomming aware of serious symptoms like extremely high temp of constant coughing. Calpol offers FULL eases of these symptoms. Let ure kid develop an immune system of his/her own ok and DO NOT PANIC OR WORRY ok. xxxxx

Welcome to the joy of mother hood, mothers forever worry about their children! She doesn't have to get sick!! Firstly make sure any time anyone goes near her they wash their hands, and make sure that no one shares a glass with her. Keep a couple of dishes just for her. Wash them and keep them separate until everyone starts to feel better. If she does start to get sick a little children's Tylenol liquid will help with her pain. Good luck.
