look on the back of your computer where your speakers plug in. plug the headphones into the blue jack. microphones plug into the pink jacks. i think that's what you were asking.

if you want sound to stop coming out of your speakers while your headphones are on, turn down the volume knob on your speaker.

I use a Y splitter on the speaker jack. unsure what all is going on, will hit you up for more info.

Oh yea windows is sneaky about the real mic volume input level.. normally all people can find is the mic volume level for how loud it is in your speakers.

Go to radio shack and purchase a stereo splitter similar to the one at this link, that way you can always have both connected and just have to turn down the speakers when you don't want to use them..

Sounds like you are tryin to use them on yahoo messenger, unfortunately, when you unplug them, yahoo mess defaults to the original setup and you have to reconfig it everytime you use it. I had the same prob but I found that once they are set up, if you close out yahoo mess before you unplug them, and plug them in before you start mess, it might stay configured.
