They are two groups of small white dots. It is a fresh water tank with normal fish (goldfish, catfish, algae eaters). Can anyone tell me what these dots are and what I should do about them. I would like as much detail as possible, but any answer you can give me would be great. Thanks.

Do the dots move? If they move a bit, they are planaria, like the other person said. Don't worry, they can't hurt your fish and they are very hard to get rid of (not worth it). If there is too much algae in your tank, getting rid of some of it could help - but you don't want to remove all or most of the algae or it will upset the environment of your tank and possibly hurt the fish.

It's probably mold. Sorry to say that but all you can do is scrub it and/or put it through the dishwasherand rinse it thoroughly
after wards. Happy Holidays!!!

There fish eggs, some fish lay eggs on the side of the tank and cover them with a slime on them to keep them protected from other fish, snails do this also----------DON'T wash them off!

Planaria, most likely. Congrats, your tank is happy and well established! They won't hurt a thing.

It depends. If they are round and somewhat translucent they are likely snail eggs.

If they are thin and worm shaped then they are likely planaria.

Neither are harmful for your fish.
