There's a small paragraph about this in my book, mainly dealing with Methodism, but I don't understand it. Any Methodists or history buffs willing to help me out?

Romanticism took place during the harvest period during 1800-1840. It dealt with less religion than earlier literature. Before romatic lit was puritan lit, which was mostly about a person's relationship with god. They were often not published.

Romanticism
1. Emotion over reason
2. Imagination
3. Potential of and individual
4. Change is good
5. Individuality over common
and most important
6. The authors own unique perspective on a subject

Also during the harvest period was classicism which was almost opposite

The Methodist religion was started by a man named John Wesley. The Methodist revival originated in England within the Church of England in the 18th century, and focused on Bible study. A "methodical" approach to study and Christian living gives it its name. Methodists were accustomed to communicate every week, to fast regularly and to abstain from most forms of amusement and luxury. They also frequently visited poor and sick persons and prisoners in the prison. Today Methodists are the third largest religion after Catholics and Baptists.
