My DVD drive still works because I use it for games, but I can't watch videos any more. Has something changed with the DVD Movie disks that prevent them from showing on my computer? I haven't got a TV and I would like to watch a movie once in a while.

Very funny, cga.
There actually was a movie called The Gadfly, made in Russia in the thirties, I think.

The answer could be that another piece of software has taken over on your computer as the default DVD player. When you pop a DVD disk in, assuming it's Windows, an autoplay notification usually pops up asking how you want to handle the disk, i.e., which program you want to use to play it. If you have Windows Media Player which comes with Windows or you've recently installed a new program, such as Real Player, that will change take over as the default player. Try launching Power DVD and then placing the disk in the drive. In Power DVD, you should have a configuration utility that can be accessed by clicking the little hammer button. Check the settings here. If all else fails, and you have the installation disk, re-install Power DVD. Good luck.

I had this problem once, and windows media player also refused to play DVDs. I reinstalled Power DVD and now it works. Maybe you should try that. If the software came preinstalled on your computer you may need to get it off the restore disc (which may also be called a driver and software disc, or something of the sort). Hope this helps.
