Santa was red, before red was cool. Don't let 'em tell you that Santa is Political, or a Commie, or even a Capitalist Coca-Cola Propaganda Boy. He wears red because he is the spiritual river of blood, and the fire-light of goodness, that runs through the hearts of the (as yet) innocents among us. He is one of the last enduring and magical icons of human hope, happiness, and transcendence. ... AND THAT'S PRECISELY WHY HE EXISTS.

Hi,

without reference material - but something you could research - perhaps on the net - I did hear, whilst at Uni, that the colours of Santa came into vogue along with Coca Cola. Also, that the celebrations of Christmas were moved from May to December to eclipse pagan celebrations and thereby overshadow them - a Christian (don't know which sect) Church initiative at that time.

So possibly the colours are more "economically" than politically motivated.

Ha. Ha. Santa is wearing red because red and white are the colors of the Coke company. He used to wear furs and green more then white, but he became one of the symbols for Coke and therefore wears their colors. It has nothing to do with politics.

Oh, please don't 'politicise' this colour of at least Santa... it is just that Red gets easily noticed from a distance than all other colours, and so chosen. Those days, distances have to be travelled by foot, and people getting ready to receive, in groups, having noticed from a distance, helps.

He got those colors from a Coca Cola advertising campaign in the early 20th century. Pure capitalism.

well, let's see: he's morbidly obese, seems to spend an inordinate amount of time with child sized beings of the same gender, hunts clipped winged quail in the off season (only a rumor at this point) his sack has no nuts in it, only "other presents", he smiles at the chemtrails as he flies among them on his appointed rounds. hmmm! yes, i agree, he's definitely a republican ;-) happy solstice!

Santa is a Republican. People always think he's going to show up but we end up spending our own money instead every year.
