I don't think they have had a negative effect at all. If anything, they have enhanced the originals by telling the backstory of DV and ObiWan. At worst, even if you think episodes 1-3 were the worst movies ever made, the originals still remain classics.

I don't think so. I don't understand how one how one movie can ruin another. They may not have been as entertaining as the classics, but they still had the moments. I like the fact that he George Lucas went back and explained the reason why Darth Vader is the way he is. And while I thought Anakin was the dumbest person in the history of Star Wars, it was kinda awesome to watch how/why Anakin slowly lost himself and turned to the darkside.

Nope. You can't ruin classic. Sure, the new ones were a bit eh. But I still view Darth Vader as Darth Vader and not that wimp Anakin. The first three are definitely better, though. Classic, in fact.

I liked all 6, but the things that I didn't like in the prequels was the idea of the midiclorians. This kinds of takes away from the mystery of finding somebody "strong in the force" because their abilities are inherited instead of just being somebody special and it being their "destiny" to become a Jedi. I also didn't like the idea of the "virgin birth" because as a Christian it makes me a bit uncomfortable since our Lord was born this way, and Anakin was still a mere mortal, even though he had an important role to play.I would have made his origins a bit different: His mother would be instead married to an extremely abusive man, who, when Anakin was very young, decided to sell her and Anakin to a slaver as an act of retribution when she tried to leave him. Anakin would than naturally be angry at how his mother was treated by his father and would probably be really attached to his mother as she protected and raised him by herself. He would still be a powerful Jedi and one still featured in their prophecies, but he would have a good explanation for his anger and desire to rescue his mother, and to saving Padme at whatever cost since she seems to kind of reflect his mother. And almost lastly, I would have toned down a little the kiddishness of young Anakin and edited some of his lines. Lastly I would have added more of Darth Maul. Real nasty bad guy. Could have used a lot more screen time to show just how dangerous he really was and also I would not have had him die in such an easy manner. ( Though I heard he was brought back in a Dark Horse comics story line)

I think people get emotional about the strangest thing. If you don't like the idea of Star Wars modified, just don't see the new movies. Star Wars was part of my childhood too, but the truth remains - they're just movies. They're entertainment. The Earth won't stop moving because somebody released a new version of a classic. Besides, if you like the originals so much, they're also available.

If you cut out the children's storyline of the first and replace almost every single actor in the newer trilogy, and of course Jar Jar, that would be enough of an improvement. It wasn't the storyline, it was the terrible acting, the fact that special effects replaced the adventurous feel, the big budget ruining the original spunk of the film. Had he chosen smaller name actors as he did in the first three and thought more about his original audience, George wouldn't be getting so much flack. But instead, he only thought about dollar signs, and he knows it.

I don't think that they ruined Star Wars. The cheesy computer graphics and characters such as Jar Jar Binks and the young Anakin (sorry if I misspelled any names) were a bit over the top. Episodes II and III were not that bad but they were not what I expected. It seems that they catered to a younger audience this time around which I think was a big mistake.

I personally dont think you can relate the new ones to the originals that came out in the 70's. The old and the new are just so different from one another. I dont think the new ones outdo the old ones at all.
I actually think the new ones helped to widen the audience ages back up again. Now you have people of any age watching the old and the new just to find out what the story is all about.

The new movies (Episodes I - III) all pretty much sucked, but I LOVED watching Yoda and the Jedi get the royal SMACKDOWN.
The best parts of the movie were the Jedi getting wiped out.

No, actually think the recent trilogy's much better than the classic one. For me, the only good about the old star wars was Hans Solo.
