I would just take what I could get for the car as is. I wouldn't waste any time trying to fix it up. You won't get any more money for fixing it when you sell it. It would just be a waste of time.

I suppose it makes a difference based on what type of body damage there is. If glass is broken or fenders are missing, I would get it fixed... If it's dings from shopping carts, don't worry about it... No sense in paying insurance hikes on something you don;t even own, should you put a claim on it. Besides, there are tons of new 16 year old drivers that would love just to get their hands on a car...some may even enjoy the challenge of fixing it up.

If it's worth over a thousand, and it has dents, you won't get more than 2 or 3 hundred. If it's only worth a couple hundred bucks, just take whatever you can get, and forget about repairs. Just make sure it's clean inside, and no air fresheners.
