is listening to music the only thing you can do on an mp3 player? if its not, what else can you do on it?

Well it depends on the mp3 player.
With an iPod, you can sync your contacts and calenders only if you have a Mac. There's tons of games on it and ones you can buy for it if you have a video ipod. also if u have a video ipod you can put tv shows, movies, music videos, and video podcasts. with non video ipods, you can also put pictures on them

a lot of other mp3 players u can put music on them, and some of them have a built in fm/am radio.

well, the ipod for example, you can watch movies and upload pictures onto them. you can also play games on ipods.

i have heard other mp3s have radio as well.

that is about all the extent i have heard of.

You can do many things such as:

1) use it to scratch your back
2) use it as a paper weight or book mark
3) microwave it and scream with glee when it explodes
4) subscribe to podcasts
5) use it as data storage
6) ...
Really, the possibilites are endless %-)

listening to music, also radio stations, period.
now, with an ipod your possibilities get wider.
