ok, so my friends step brother and i have been friends since hiz mom married my friends dad. every time he sees me, he hugs me, and is always touching me in some way, he always wants to talk to me, and he beat up this one guy because he tried to slap me.
he is always loooking at me, but i dont want to screw up us being friends

Here are my signs to tell if a guy likes you:
-You are in school and you look up and just happen to see him staring at you
-You talk to another boy and he acts funny or tries to break up the conversation or join in out of no where
-He asks you if you have a boyfriend (but this one is not guarantee because he could be asking for a friend)
-He ask you alot of questions about yourself
-He seems to do anything for your attention even annoying things
-He gives you a longer hug than he gives other girls
-Overproctiveness

The constant touching and doing things for you is a guys way of flirting. Most likely it is his way of saying he is into you. You should take things very slow. You are 13. I would feel it out, but keep hinting to liking him as well (if that is really what you are getting at).

if he is making you uncomfortable in any way, you need to let him know regardless of how your friendshp might be affected. if he is a true friend to you, he will respect your feelings and he will want to make you happy. aside from all that- if he is beating people up- for any reason other than an immediate physical threat- he needs help managing his anger. you dont want to get involved with someone violent. and if he is more than a couple years older than you -- you really should tell an adult about the way he touches you.
