First of Pussycat Dolls are not rap, they're pop.
Anyway for dance Nelly Furtado and Justin Timberlake are good.
I don't really dig her voice, but Ciara makes good dance music, and so does Rihanna when she not trying to make a ballad.
The Black Eye Peas and Fergie are also good for dance.
I don't really listen to a lot of the modern rap because quite frankly it sucks a.s.s., so I can't help on that one.
For good popular emo/punk/pop music check out Panic! At the Disco, Fall Out Boy, and My Chemical Romance.

HA! There is no "good" rap music they play in "culbs" (sic) Rap died with Tupac. The only good stuff I've heard recently is DJ DangerMouse's "Grey Album" (Beatles/Jay-Z mashup)
For punk add some Ramones & Sex Pistols
Try some 70's funk or some good old classic rock to give it range and some taste.
Michael Jackson (or Jackson 5) to dance (Justin Timberlake is just ripping off MJ - completely!)

Unfortunately, "popular" does not always equal "good." I have a hard time finding any good music that is mainstream.
All I can suggest is to get lots of suggestions from people who know music (not just people who listen to a lot of radio, but people who appreciate the artform). Good luck.

check out lady sovereign(really good technoey rap type music) I'd perfer "Tango," "Public Warning," and "blah blah"
and if ya like fast stuff I suggest Busdriver, not the best voice, but it's good music(Rap)
don't waste your time with Panic at the disco, or Fergie, they're terible, but Gwen staphanie and Eminem are good.
as someone said before, yeah, Flogging Molly is good too.
