I think it was fair that he got suspended for 15 games because he didn't have to punch the dude. This is how I would have did it gave him 15 games suspending for the punch, and 5 more games for running like a little girl after he did it.

not fair he should have been suspended the same if not more then what J o'neal got when he was in the DETROIT brawl. Melo suckered punch the guy then ran like a ***** and this coming from a role model of the NBA.

It was perfect justified. What he did could have caused even more mayhem. There was no need for him to come in after the rest had cooled down, and get that sucker punch in. Not just that he ran away after he did it. He should lose all respect from his teammates and be forced to sit around the Miller Lite Man Table and take his abuse....like a man!

You left out an important detail: Carmelo Anthony connected on his punch.

15 games is a bit extreme. But If the "average Joe" did what he did, he would be standing before a judge/cooling in a cell. All said, athletes/celebrities seem to get special consideration for their lapses of judgement.

What is not fair is that Thomas got off free, not even a fine. Even Magic Johnson was ejected for bumping into an official.

should have been out for half the season. david stern needs to start bringing the hammer down on players acting that way. if you swing at somebody, 40 games. that should be a rule.

i dont think it was fair......he should have gotten suspended for way more games.
if i was stern. i would have suspended him for the rest of the season without pay.

that would have tought carmelo a huge lesson in the NBA.
