I just found out baby #2 is on the way and I'm excited as can be. For my boyfriend though it is his first kid of his own and he is very, very nervous about all of this.

Since I'm older & wiser now (and the circumstances couldn't be better) I'm not even the slightest bit worried, especially compared to my first time around!

But for him this is a whole lifestyle change - he's worried about me staying healthy, he's worried about having good enough of a job to support a family, he's worried about how to tell our parents (we're not married, which we had planned to do eventually but not anytime soon!), and he's worried about anything else you can possibly imagine.

Any ideas on what I can do to help him feel better??!!?? Right now he's feeling more nausea than I am!!

My husband was that way with all three of ours. Just let him talk it out to you and let him vent. If you see that he is getting increasingly freaked out give him a hug and tell him you love him. My husband was so freaked with our first he had night sweats so badly that i would have to sleep on the couch because the bed was drenched. Encourage him to write down questions and go with you to the doctor so that he can ask the questions and get the answers. Sometimes having a third party talk it out helps more then if you do it yourself. Men can be so funny sometimes. Just stay calm and love him a lot. His parents maybe able to help him out too (that is if they are not the kind to spazz about having babies without being married).
Congrats! and I am sure all will go well. Sending big hugs for daddy to be too.

you sound like me. except this was my first kid and my bf's second... although he doesn have any rights to the first one. so basically this was hisfirst kid that he would get to actually raise. he was nervous to because he suddenly had to grow up. he couldnt just be the kid at heart he was anymore. he had to think about how to provde for us and all that. just try to get him to talk about how he feels and then answer his questions. thats pobably his iggest thing right now, having questions that wont be nswered untl the baby s actualy born. try tkaing parenting classes together. that will help. and try to get him to talk to other dads about what he needs to do and all that. you can call the hospital ob unit and see what kind of classes theyhave for daddies to be... some have someting called "daddy bootcamp" where they go and learn all kinds of things from other dads .

Let him worry that is how he is going to deal with things. But when he worries reassure him and let him know you to are in it together and everything will work out.

He's in for the greatest ride of his life, he'll either have a built in friend (son), or at least one woman who thinks he is the greatest person in the world (daughter).

I wouldn't have missed parenthood for anything.

i am sure all fathers go through this and its only natural. just reassure him that it will be ok.

as soon as this baby is born all those worrys will dissapear from him and he will know that everything will fall into place.
