You need a good amp...that guitar should be just fine for new metal players.

Good tone is a combination of good pickups, good preamplification, clean powered post amplification and speakers. I use active eq pickups, which are hotter pickups than usual and have a 9 volt battery in them.

Distortion pedals: Sometimes what sounds good to the ear doesn't sound so good once you get it in the studio and mic it up. Sometimes you can distort your tone so much it actually loses power- this is called clipping.

Sometimes tones that sound kind of wimpy sound really really full and rockin' once you turn them up, and still other times a tone that sounds really rockin' at a low voulme setting doesn't sound so great once the volume gets kicked up.

Speakers are important- I recommend anything with celestion. There are lots of other great ones too, but with Celestions you can't go wrong.

Get a stereo power amp, and then get a guitar pre-amp and run that through the amp in stereo and then out into a 4/12 celestion cab and experiment with tones. You cant go wrong.

Get a Metal Zone Distortion Pedal. They are incredible and cost efficient. Good Luck and Keep Rockin!
