I agree with you. The one thing I like about girls or womens hockey over boys or mens hockey is the ladies play clean hockey compared to the men. What I mean is you rarely see a cheap shot in the female version of the sport. That type of nonsense doesnt belong in hockey period. The analogy can be made to basketball, where the women are fundamentally more solid than the men in terms of the basics of the game. They might not be as big and strong or as fast as the men, but in some ways the women are more enjoyable to watch. Granted, it is boring at times, because you know Canada or the USA will win the gold, but it takes time to grow the game. USSR, and other European hockey powers didnt really start getting any measure of real success in the international game until around the 1950s. It may take a long time for the women as well. Another thing women
dont have to deal is the hockey parents crap syndrome, where the lunatic hockey parents are either racist, or hurl abuse at the coach, the opposing players, their own players, or the coaches.
Girls and women are lucky in this aspect of the game.

Tell you truth i actually like women hockey better than mens. After watching the Olympics this year i found women hockey more entertaining than the mens. They had better stragety and plays. It was a better game. So i think the mens should play more like the gilrs! WOW. So NO they should not check and def not fight. NHL could learn a thing or too from international and women hockey if it wants to survive in America.

Yeah, there is something different about womens' hockey, especially on the international level. Hockey just isn't hockey without the checking and the wee bit of violence. I think it's got something to do women etiquette: you shouldn't be rough. I'm sure top women players like Hayley Wickenhieser will disagree. Go Canada.

Women's hockey is the end all, be all. I do agree that checking should be permitted. We may be ladies but we aren't fragile. I myself play and have been playing for 14 years. There are ways to check but you have to be sneaky. Regardless, hockey is about finesse as well as body work. I find women's international is SOOOO MUCH better then men's. I strongly believe that as women we can create the proper mix of brains and brawn. Whereas I find men are more inclined to use only brawn, with the exception of a few.

I think that girl's hockey is boring because of the lack of intensity (no checking or scrums) that you would find in men's hockey. It's a shame because their are some women that play at the NHL level - Hayley Wickenheiser for one.

I love girls hockey!!! It rocks!! Yeah, I do think we should be aloud to check. We are the same size and have the same strenght as one another. It's not like we are going up against boys. Is it?? I wish I could tell you why we can't, but hey rules are rules. (Not that MY team follows them!)
