the man with his head down that can not be seen, could be a part of your inner self. is there a part of yourself that you do not trust? a part of you, that you feel may put blocks in your way of some success or some advancement? I think that you may feel pain because of the inner turmoil that you feel within yourself.
Are you making some decisions or considering making some decisions that really do not sit well with your inner being/soul self? Possible the hooded man that is following you, is the truth, and you are trying to hide from it, and it is somehow painful or scary for you to come to terms with it.
feeling pain in your dream could mean one of two things, it could mean that this hooded man is so much apart of your being, that the closeness is almost physically real. it can also mean that you are very intuitive, and when you dream, you have not quite left this level of concious, as others have
I think that this person in the hooded garb keeps appearing because he is trying to tell you to look at this part of your truth. He is trying to tell you to face this part of yourself. The fighting that you speak of, may just be you trying to come to grips with something. Until you take the time and effort to reach down into your subconcious/concious mind and deal with issues that you would rather avoid, he will probably always be in the shadow of your dreams, following you.

I used to have, most nights for 3 years, a dream where I was walking along a street and I was murdered. I could feel myself die in the dream and then I could look down (as a ghost) upon my corpse. It spooked the hell out of me!
I think your dream is just a sign that you are worried about a mysterious person disrupting your life. Perhaps a mate has a new girlfiend, or there is a baby on the way. Basically it's jut a subconcious fear of change. That's what I think anyway.

Try to take control of the dream and rip the guy's hood off so you can see his face. (Go through the dream again and again in waking life and tell yourself - I will drag the hood off this person's face. This is my dream. I will take control." - that is, "brainwash" yourself into taking it in a different direction.)
The problem with dreams is that we approach and live through them in complete passivity - teaching yourself to be more active and to take more active choices takes time, but is very rewarding - it's a first step towards lucidity (complete control of the dreaming world) and sorry to be boring, but an essential step seems to be to take on the things which frighten you and spit in their face.
If it helps, a lot of cultures around the world have a "shamanistic" approach to dreams - ie, if you are "killed" in a dream it is a step towards gaining wisdom. Some shamans hold that wisdom is gained by overcoming the most frightening and painful dream situations, for instance being torn apart by wild animals (usually servants of a God or deity putting the initiate through an ordeal)
One of my "shamanistic" dreams was about being disfigured by a vampire that took half my face off and blinded me in my right eye. Very painful and graphic:but in the weeks following this dream, my attitude to other people became noticeably more intuitive, and I was able to make logical jumps, and associate ideas, that would have been beyond me before. It might have been a coincidence, but my brain started to work better...
What sort of personal evolution could be there if you saw this through to its conclusiion, I wonder?

How comfortable is your bed. Are there any loose or wonky or sticky out bits or springs. If you're being stabbed in the same place it's usually something external influencing your dreams. You dont say how old you are. Maybe before trying to have your dream analysed you should rule out any physical/health problems first, a chest x-ray or medical check-up. Whatever it is, message or physical symptom hope it works out. :-)

dreams are releaseing tension in the brain.. it does not mean they are not real... a person who has very strong dreams,, usually is a very active person... no matter what ,,,,do not take dreams lightly.. there can be a lot of meaning to dreams,,, if you remember in the bible david interruped dreams for the king.. and because he did it correctly with gods help ,, he become a major ruler in his own rite.
i too have very real dreams, try to write down as much of the dream as you can,, when you first wake up... i also believe that in some cases that angels are with the dreams, guideing them,,, now i know that some will say i am a nut ,, that is ok... i am not promoteing tbn.... but if you will got to tbn and look at their movie archeives,, there is one on angels and some
dreams.. they are free and worth your time to watch,, these are based on true facts,,, i love to dream,, look forward to it ,,, i have had a lot of dreams about people that have died ,,, and i did not know that...
there are a lot of excellant sites on the net about dreams..

I also have a similar recurring dream. I don't know if it's a warning, but I do believe that dreams have some subconscience meaning to them. Look at what is happening in your life at the moment - is there anything that your worried about, scared of etc??
