i have no clue what the two people above me are talking about - the DS does NOT run on AA batteries.

in fact, in order to open the compartment that the unit battery is in, you need a special 3pronged bit to unscrew it - and since you never need to open it, you need to buy one of those on ebay if you want. nintendo doesnt' want you to open it though, as that will void the factory warranty

it has a lithium ion battery - it works like a cell phone battery

it's light, you never take it out, and it charges with the cord that comes with the unit

don't charge it until after the orange or red light comes on, it will help prevent early shortening of the life of the DS

They run on two AA batteries. They last for about 20 hours of game time.

none its a lithium ion battery you can recharge it but if you want to actually pay for batteries 2 double AA
